The Role of the Parish Meeting

The Parish Meeting has a right to be informed by the County and District Councils of any planning application affecting the Parish. Although the Parish Meeting has no statutory role in the decision-making process, the planning authorities may accord more weight to the Meeting's collective view than to individual comments.

District Planning Strategy

Stratford-on-Avon District Council was finally able to adopt its Core Strategy on 11 July 2016, following exhaustive Examination by the Planning Inspectorate.

During the period of Examination, the District Council had been powerless to prevent its decisions to refuse planning consent in relation to a number of large housing developments being overturned on Appeal, by either the Planning Inspectorate of the Secretary of State. Henceforward, the Core Stratgey will guide future development in the District.
